Teacher Conference

On the second week of term 2 some year 7 to 8 students got to go out to a teacher's conference this was called voice and choice. That is when some students go to a teacher's conference and speak about what goes on your school but the students say what goes on not the teachers. So me and Trent had to come up with a speech to say to the other teachers that were there. We all got a topic to speak about and a buddy to come up with what we presented ( mine was Trent ). There was a number of topics and our topic was science. This term we get to come up with our own science project and we get to go with a buddy. Mine is Logan and our project is "how does the shape of a paper plane's wings affect its travel distance?" This is mine and Trent's speech.

Hi my name is Reuben and this is Trent and we will be sharing with you what it is like in science for the Kaupeka hub for kids.

Last term we started to do some science we got to chose out of chemistry, Biology and physics.
I wasn’t really into science and didn't know much about it, until we started to find out all the different topics that make up science. I found out that it can be really hands on. That's when I started to love science and wanted to do more.
We will now some highlights and lowlights with you.
Highlights
Lowlights
Some highlights are...

  • We get to experiment new stuff and find out what different things you add will change whether it has a chemical reaction or not.

  • We get to work with friends and share our ideas and what we think will happen with ours.

  • The teachers can always help when they can and it makes it a lot easier when there is someone that knows what to do.

  • We have freedom to choose what project we want to do.

  • We get to do a subject that is not just like math or reading.

  • When the science project is going really well you can have a lot fun along the way and not just when you finished it.

  • You get the chance to see other people’s projects and learn about what they have found out.
  • Sometimes it may be a thing that takes along time and you have to wait for the teacher's permission.

  • Sometimes the experiment doesn’t work and it will make the experiment a bit boring.

  • Sometimes the experiment can just be boring all together.

  • If you get it wrong you sometimes have to restart.

  • Sometimes it can be stressful to think you have a deadline coming up and you haven't had the time to finish your experiment.

I hope you like my blog and have you ever been to a teachers conference, if you have did you like it ? Bye
