Last Friday our hub and some parents went to Lyttelton to walk the Bridle Path as well as Ferrymead to experience what it was like back in the 1950s. What were the differences and similarities of the time you experienced at Ferrymead to now? What I noticed is that the differences were there was less technology so most things were made by hand and it was harder to make food. The children had lots more jobs and chores to do before and after school. The clothing they wore was long, itchy and thin. At school they had very strict rules and if you broke them the teachers would gave you the strap! They had no computers but they had paper and pencils. From your experiences what do you think life was like at home in the era of your event? It was hard because not many people had that much money to pay for school, food, water, a house and many more things and only the rich could afford a TV and other technology expenses.
