Week 9 blog post

Hello,
Yesterday we had our north school zones at Jellie park. I was a bit nerves and so was my friend Sam Tippen, I was racing in the 50m Freestyle and the 50m relay and Sam was racing in the 50m breast stroke, 50m back stroke and the 50m relay with me. My first event was the 50m freestyle and there was a about 5 kids their so it was a straight final which was good. They blow the whistle to let everyone know that a race was going to start, "take you marks" bang!! we dove in I swam my heart out but with about 15m to go I got caught in a rope so I pop my head up and realise that is was a false start from someone and they did the race again I needed up coming 2nd. At the end of the race my friends said that I was wining the first time they did it. It was then time for our relay with Sam, Rosa and Casey, I went 1st Casey went 2nd, Rosa went 3rd and Sam went lucky last we ended up coming 2nd again. So that means I am going to Canterbury's for Freestyle.

Teacher Conference

On the second week of term 2 some year 7 to 8 students got to go out to a teacher's conference this was called voice and choice. That is when some students go to a teacher's conference and speak about what goes on your school but the students say what goes on not the teachers. So me and Trent had to come up with a speech to say to the other teachers that were there. We all got a topic to speak about and a buddy to come up with what we presented ( mine was Trent ). There was a number of topics and our topic was science. This term we get to come up with our own science project and we get to go with a buddy. Mine is Logan and our project is "how does the shape of a paper plane's wings affect its travel distance?" This is mine and Trent's speech. My Recount

Do you now what the wahine disaster is about ? Well that's what I am going to share with you now it has been my recount and I know term 1 is over but but I still have't showed what I did so sit back and read away PS: I hope you like it and had a great holiday. The Wahine Story “Robertson Gordon”!!! I repeat “Robertson Gordon”!!! ‘The seas are getting really rough out there’, said the harbour master, you should  either turn back or risk it and  push on to Wellington”.  It was the 10th of April 1968 and the ferry was travelling from Christchurch to Wellington their were two storms raging and they were going to meet.  One storm was coming  from the North and one from the South Island. Robertson Gordon ( Captain/me  ) said “thanks but we will risk it.” I knew I should had pulled the boat around but I chose not to.
